| Executive Summary: | History is often taught as a flattened, linear account of leaders, battles, and dates—isolating us from the full complexity of the past. "Blind History," an acclaimed podcast series, was created to challenge that view, bringing to life lesser-known dimensions of historical figures. From this foundation, we launched "Blind Herstory"—a new featured series that amplifies the voices and stories of prominent women whose narratives have often been sidelined or simplified. "Blind Herstory" needed a distinct yet related brand identity: one that honoured the master brand’s ethos while carving out a bold, resonant new space for women's stories. Using the signature ‘O’ from the Blind History logo as a symbolic "looking glass," we reimagined this device to reflect individuality, depth, and dynamism. Each “O” became an evolving portal—its shape subtly shifting across touchpoints to mirror the complex, layered lives of the women explored. Visually, the brand identity drew inspiration from classical art, infused with a modern edge. A rich, vibrant colour palette evoked the depth of the past, while neutral contemporary tones grounded the design firmly in today's digital landscape. Set against parchment textures, the visuals seamlessly blended history’s gravitas with a forward-looking freshness, making these hidden narratives both vivid and urgent. This design approach was carried through to the audio experience: elegant, layered sound design crafted an immersive world around each woman’s story, while the refined visual identity ensured immediate recognition and emotional resonance across podcast platforms and social media. "Blind Herstory" transformed the traditional telling of history into a sensory and intellectual journey—challenging perceptions, reclaiming forgotten voices, and offering audiences a new lens on the past. |
